Principal’s Message

Welcome to Castro Valley High School!
At CVHS, we take pride in being a richly diverse and excellence-driven comprehensive high
school. We are a community grounded in the core values of rigor, collaboration, and
connection. Our vision aligns with that of the Castro Valley Unified School District—to ensure
a safe, culturally responsive, and academically rigorous environment where every student is
supported to thrive in a global society.
Our academic programs are student-centered and designed to cultivate curiosity, resilience, and
lifelong learning. From a wide range of college preparatory and honors courses to an extensive
selection of AP classes, students on the four-year college track will find strong support and
challenge. In addition, we offer dynamic College and Career Readiness Pathways—including
DADA, HABiT, and ICT—that allow students to delve deeply into focused areas of study.
Programs such as AVID and Puente offer additional support for students navigating the path to
higher education.
We also celebrate creativity and self-expression through our award-winning Visual and
Performing Arts programs, including Music, Drama, and Art. Students can explore world
languages—Spanish, French, German, Japanese, and American Sign Language—and gain
research and literacy skills through the CVHS Library that will serve them well in any post-
secondary pursuit.
Learning at CVHS extends beyond the classroom. Students can participate in over 30
competitive athletic teams, a wide array of clubs, Student Leadership, and many opportunities
to engage with the broader community.
Our commitment goes beyond academic success—we are deeply invested in helping students
find their place, feel connected, and experience belonging. Student disconnection is one of the
greatest challenges schools face today, and at CVHS, we are proactively developing systems and
supports to re-engage students in their learning and wellbeing.
We also recognize that our families are our most important partners. Your involvement
makes a significant difference. We invite you to stay connected and join us in creating a
supportive and inclusive environment where every student can achieve their full potential.
