Nicholas McMaster 

for

 Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services

Castro Valley, CA – (June 11, 2025) – At the June 11th board meeting, the Castro Valley Unified School District Board of Education appointed Nicholas McMaster as the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services. 


Mr. Nicholas McMaster's extensive experience has been instrumental in shaping student success. With ten years of administrative experience as Director of Student Services, he has supported students in a multitude of ways, including overseeing and implementing wellness programs, counseling, student enrollment, safety plans, attendance and much more. Mr. McMaster's decade of expertise includes grant implementation, procedural guidance, academic intervention systems, and increased access to advanced courses for marginalized students.


 As Assistant Principal at Castro Valley High School, he was instrumental in implementing MTSS (Multi Tiered System of Support) where he created systems for equitable access to advanced coursework, and supported extracurricular activities and sports. Mr. McMaster taught Mathematics at CVHS and is a CVHS alumnus. 


Mr. McMaster earned his Master of Education in Teaching and Learning in a Global Society from National University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus on Finance and a minor in Economics from California State University, East Bay.

His experience as a teacher, site administrator, and his district leadership have all prepared him to lead the Educational Services Division. We are extremely fortunate to have him in Castro Valley.
